7/2/2024

The State Railway Technical Inspectorate has approved the Minimum Construction Project (MPC) design for the modernisation and development of the electrified railway network on the Riga–Zemitāni (including Brasa), Zasulauks–Bolderāja and Zasulauks–Sloka lines.

The MPC was developed by GP Nordes Būve & BCC, which won the contract to modernise and develop the electrified network of the above-mentioned lines through an open tender procedure.

To ensure efficient organisation of the design and construction process, the electrified network modernisation works have been divided into 17 sections. Separate construction documentation is being prepared for each section. Following approval of the MPC, detailed construction projects will be developed and coordinated with the client, the State Railway Technical Inspectorate, and other relevant stakeholders, including verification in accordance with European railway system interoperability legislation (Notified Body – NoBo requirements).

The first construction works are scheduled to commence at the end of this year. GP Nordes Būve & BCC has secured the contract to modernise and develop the electrified railway network on a design-and-build basis, meaning that the contractor will both prepare the construction documentation and execute the works in accordance with the approved design. The client is VAS Latvijas dzelzceļš (Latvian Railways).
