A new bridge over the River Salaca has been opened in Salacgrīva, significantly improving traffic safety and flow along the Tallinn Highway (A1) and strengthening regional connectivity both locally and across the Baltic states. Since its completion, traffic has been operating in both directions, providing a long-awaited resolution for the town and its residents.
“The new Salaca bridge clearly demonstrates both our responsibility and the unique value of the builder’s profession. The satisfaction in our work is tangible – the result is safe, accessible and built to serve,” emphasised Jevgenijs Locovs, representative of the general partnership NB & Tilts and chairman of the board at SIA Nordes Būve, at the bridge-opening ceremony.
The chair of the Limbaži Regional Council highlighted that the new bridge fully reconnects both sides of Salacgrīva and is already becoming a point of interest for visitors.
Construction works were carried out under a demanding schedule and in compliance with strict quality, occupational safety, and environmental protection standards. Close cooperation was maintained between the client, contractors, environmental authorities and the local community throughout the project. The BIOR Institute has confirmed that the construction activities did not cause adverse impact on the Salaca river ecosystem.
The new four-span steel–concrete beam bridge provides safe and convenient access for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists, substantially improving daily mobility and traffic safety in Salacgrīva. Final landscaping and improvement works will continue until the end of the year.
The client for the project is Latvijas Valsts ceļi (Latvian State Roads). Construction was carried out by the general partnership NB & Tilts, comprising SIA Nordes Būve and SIA Tilts. The design was developed by SIA Projekts 3, and construction supervision was provided by SIA Ceļuprojekts.
The new Salaca bridge has been built for long-term service, ensuring durability, safety, and sustainable performance for years to come.
