Significant stage in construction of new bridge completed in Salacgrīva

Another significant stage in the construction of the new bridge over the River Salaca has been completed in Salacgrīva – the bridge span has been lowered onto its supports. The permanent and cantilever formwork has been installed, and the outline of the bridge is becoming increasingly visible. Work is well underway so that the new bridge can be opened to traffic very soon.

We can look back with satisfaction on what has been achieved: the completion of installation of span girders for the new bridge over the River Salaca. This process took more than four months and was carried out in cooperation with partners from SIA Tilts, ensuring the precise and safe installation of the structure.
The beams have been connected to the bridge supports, and the installation of the remaining formwork for the roadway and pavement structures has begun. The bridge roadway and pavements have been concreted, and final work on the bridge structures and approaches is continuing.

During construction, traffic in Salacgrīva is being diverted via a temporary bridge. Vehicles weighing more than 44 tonnes are still prohibited from using the temporary bridge – heavy goods vehicles must use the detour via Limbaži and Aloja. Heavy goods traffic across the River Salaca in Salacgrīva will be restored after the opening of the new bridge.

The client for the construction work is Latvijas Valsts ceļi VSIA, and the work is being carried out in cooperation with partners from SIA Tilts.
